When I talk about happiness I’m not speaking of pleasure, nor of fleeting emotion.

Happiness is an optimal state of being.

Happiness is a deep sense of flourishing.

Happiness is the default state of a skillful mind.

I make no claims at expertise, but these articles don’t come about without a foundation in experience. I know something about living fully despite challenges.

I’m severely disabled with a form of muscular dystrophy that has left me quadriplegic. I’ve experienced the loss of loved ones, including my father, mother, and brother in early adulthood.

Despite these hardships, or perhaps because of them, I’ve learned to not only survive, but to find happiness and fulfillment. Not to mention love.

What I hope to do with this blog is share some of the struggle, some of the hope, and some of the new things learned along the way. This is to clarify things in my mind as much as for anyone else, but it’s so much more fun to have others to bounce ideas off of and offer mutual support.
